I've been looking to actually do something with my life besides selling my soul to corporate America to ease some of the stress of my decadent western existence, mostly interested in some kind of Hospice volunteering or working in a soup kitchen.
But it's also a challenge navigating because, predictably enough, there's plenty of people looking to exploit and profit off of your good will. I'm already looking at a “non profit” that is effectively just a thrift store job that “donates to empowering women”, and just reads like a job advertisement.
Roles and Responsibilities: – Educate shoppers on the story and mission of [Not giving you native advertising assholes] – Develop customer relationships by continually developing knowledge of current trends and styling techniques – Determine customer needs and makes proper suggestions – Drive results through delivering an elevated customer experience – Ensure all merchandise is properly displayed and the sales floor is maintained
Like if I'm devoting my time to my fellow people the absolute last thing I want is to be doing it through fucking currency they're probably just funnelling to some rich asshole's tax break foundation. Anyway, my most important goal right now is looking for volunteering where my time is directly supporting people.
