So I applied for a position that was listed as remote. Throughout the interview process they communicated on multiple occasions that it was remote. I got the job. Before the start date they sent an email saying to come in on the first day and get my equipment. When I got there they told me the first two weeks of training were in person and the last day I would bring my equipment home. Many employees there are full time remote with some coming in a few days a week. Another person has been training started a week earlier(this employee called in twice during training) but yet still got to go remote after two weeks. The last day of training I got there and was told half way through my shift I would be taking my equipment home. When the time came I approached my supervisor and asked if now was a good time to start the process. My supervisor then alerted me that I would not be taking home my equipment, I would be working from the office the following week, with zero reasoning. Instead of losing my cool I stopped the convo for an hour to calm down and then re approached the situation. I came with the receipts of the job listing being remote, the multiple documentation listing remote, and the words coming directly out of my supervisors mouth that it would be remote. She then proceeded to claim it was never remote and that remote was just an option for sick employees or at the companies needs. She also claimed since I’m doing the job so well so quickly that they wanted to keep me in office to help the company more. Now idk if it’s ever really going to be remote. It’s an hour drive everyday and not something I want to do, especially not being manipulated into doing so. I’m like do I just say f you and leave or what. This is super bizarre.
