At my current job. My manager sat me down in the office with the assistant manager. They then proceeded to tell me that there would be a full time position opening up in the next week or so. After trying to get me to do small talk with them, giving him an idea of my availability after work. I work part time and went from 15 hrs a week to 25. I told them I do tutoring on the side and he completely forgot about the fact that I have a bachelor degree in something I tutor in. I picked up this tutoring side gig because I was reduced to 15 hours after my previous position got phased out and I needed cash to make up for the money lost. Even then, I'm not making as much as before. Anyway they did not mention any bonus pay, increase pay, or benefits. I asked if it would be full time and they said the hours would coincide with the needed amount of hours for the week. I have until Monday to make my choice.
The thing is, I've been considering putting my two weeks in. Retail really has me putting on different hats. But jeez. If you want to retain workers there has to be an increase of benefits, pay, both or more. This just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen? I've been applying to other better companies that I feel will impact the way I work for myself and this job was simply a side gig. Being a punching bag for the customers in a retail store just isn't the way I wanted to be part of the community, but hey to each their own. I laughed at the thought of agreeing to this. Red flasg all around.
