/r/1099 is dead, so I am asking here. If you know a better sub to ask, please let me know.
I am in the state of Missouri.
I am working as an appliance repair person for an appliance repair company. I will call them Appliance-Repair-Co for this thread.
When I started with Appliance-Repair-Co they gave me two weeks training. (during which they paid slightly less than minumum wage–claiming that independent contractors are not subject to wage laws)
So a day at work for me is about 10 service calls at customers homes to diagnose and repair kitchen and laundry appliances.
Appliance-Repair-Co has an office and takes phone calls from customers, then dispatches me to the customers home.
Appliance-Repair-Co provides me with a two phone apps; one to manage the dispatch, and one to collect payment (square).
The only business Appliance-Repair-Co conducts is repairing appliances. The only work I do for Appliance-Repair-Co is repairing appliances. I work five days a week. They pay me at the end of every day, about $200. ( Lets ignore the fact that I generated $700 ~ $1100 of revenue for Appliance-Repair-Co today, and therefore will be going out on my own soon to have an 100% slice of the pie.)
Am I an employee or an independent contractor?
Of course they say I am an independent contractor.
