For reference – I’m about 2 months into this job and i’ve enjoyed it about as much as one can enjoy a minimum wage retail job. My coworkers are friendly and the environment is low stress/i like most of our customers.
But it was only ever supposed to be a part time job. I have a degree and I live with my parents so this job doesn’t really matter much to me – it’s mostly just for some extra cash to buy miscellaneous things while I work on getting personal endeavors off the ground.
And now i’m being scheduled for 5-6 day stretches with only a day off in between. The schedule is written a month in advance so when i saw this i asked my manager to cut some of my hours and she said “well the schedule is written so if you want those shifts gone you have to find someone else to cover them.”
Now i’m not lazy by any means but this just ain’t it. I have already asked multiple times for there to be a change seeing as they have a whole month to change the schedule and been refused.
It’s upset me enough that i really just want to text my boss and say that i won’t come in anymore. I don’t need the money or this company as a reference for future jobs. I can make side money in other ways. Is this selfish of me or is it justifiable?
I just feel like i’m being slightly used and i really don’t want to work 30-40 hour weeks for the next month until they write a schedule that fits my needs
