I work part time as a cleaner (shit pay, no extras, no bonuses, pay usually wrong, every equipment even down to the “uniform” is broken and taped together, vacation if youre lucky but usually you get called in anyway, understaffed, overtime etc etc etc)
Since we are hired by a company we work in malls in shifts. A Co Worker is “sick” since the start of the year, so we have 6 Day Weeks, and since I only work 5-6 Hours 3 days per week normally, I split them those hours inbetween those 6 days, which is like 2-3 Hours per day.
I signed out yesterday and one of the Mall workers asks where I am going (the split hours are now there since the beginning of the year btw) and I say that Im finished for today.
There was more banter between us as I explain (again) that Co worker is sick and thats why, and the Mall Worker digged a bit more and I tell her that my contracted is max. 18h (overtime), which I did for a long while until I lowered them to 15h (normal hours) because my Company just didnt do shit for us and because of that I dont have full shifts.
And then she says “Well its not like you want to work more. Youre young, you can do more.”
I was too mad to even respond or even remember stuff after that but what the fuck.
The amount of literal SHIT I clean up, I finish all the main Tasks and obviously extra Tasks too, I jump in a lot, and then I get told by someone who doesnt do what I do that I could work more.
I dont get any Benefits, or anything from the Goverment, I pay my taxes and I pay for my own flat and everything else. I got my reasons why I do part time, and even if I didnt, I dont have to explain myself.
Work more for what??? Elderly Poverty (this is Germany btw) is at an all time high, the Worlds going down, I dont wanna get old, and I have more free time to do shit, so what should I work more for??? Im not rich, but I have a life at least. The mall is CLEAN, we got told we do a good job (rn its just my Foreman and me) and the mall owners dont even care that the company is treating their employments like shit.
Most people dont know how badly Cleaners are treated, even got threats too once. This Job is alright, its not too hard, okay times and most other Mall Workers are very friendly, the part time really helps of it being an okay job.
But this is living rent free in my head rn, I am still mad, so if anybody knows any good comebacks for next time- please tell. Just had to rant
