At my old job, if you failed to clock out, they “assumed” you forgot and it was policy to deduct 1/2 and hour of pay each day. I'm guessing I know the answer to my question already, so if it is wage theft, what kind of documentation would I need to do to report it? What kind of statute of limitations am I looking at? And finally if it's too late to help myself, then how to go about reporting it anyway to help the people who still work there? I worked there waaaayyy too long, just did some quick calculations and the amount of hours stolen from me is sickening.
Editing to clarify that I would often not take a break and would work through lunch. And it was known in smaller circles that to avoid it, all you had to do was clock out and clock back in right away.
