Why you shouldn’t be celebrating Delta flight attendants getting boarding pay

Most airline work groups, such as flight attendants, pilots, and engineers, are unionized. …Enter Delta’s flight attendants. The Association of Flight Attendants has been trying to unionize Delta for years. Some of the great benefits of my union contract: duty rigs (I get a minimum of 5 hrs pay per duty period, even if I only work a 45 minute flight,) self help (is there a massive storm in DC? Can’t get ahold of scheduling after an hour to get a hotel room for the night? I’m hopping in an Uber, finding a nice hotel, and expensing the ride and room to my company,) and so much more.

For YEARS Delta has been guilty of blatant union busting- example A: “It’s your money, don’t you think you should keep it?”

Recently, the Association of Flight Attendants (America’s largest FA union) has been putting in a massive effort to unionize DL flight attendants- and they’ve got a lot of traction. No shocker that this sudden announcement for boarding pay comes on the heels of AFA making great strides with the flight attendants over at DL.

Should flight attendants at EVERY airline be getting paid for hours that they’re required to be on duty? ABSOLUTELY. If I can be fired during that time, I should be getting paid. HOWEVER, I want the idea that Delta management should be celebrated to be shut the fuck down. This is one again blatant union busting and DL deserves to be called out on their shit. The public deserves to know the shitty ethics of “America’s Sweetheart” airline.

TL;DR: Fuck a union buster.
