My last day at a big chain garage is tomorrow and everyone knows. I told my GM friday and he texted me at 8:30 this morning to put it in writing or some sort of email
I kind of want to do something fun or creative. It was an experimental stint and I'll likely never be working in a garage again. GM is abusive by the book and insecure in his masculinity, the company offers worse benefits than family chain restaurants
Going back to kitchen work, found a place that's going to pay better that I love the vibe of and that's all I told him although I have stood my ground and fearlessly given him shit before
He thinks discussing wages is illegal. I make $16 and the other two who started with slightly more experience make $13.50 and $15 (both of them are moving on to greener pastures within a month) but he doesn't know we know that so that's an option that might be fun to play with
My job before this one was a hospital cook and I wrote my resignation on an origami bird that chilled in their office for weeks
Also, lesson learned, read glass door reviews thinking “GM sounds like a cook, how bad can it be?” And the answer is yes, really bad and he was a former cook but probably got bullied out of kitchens for his shit personality
