I'm in Human resources. We finally enabled a feature on our applicant tracking system that automatically takes data from resume and fills in the application that way.
In test markets the ATS was on average 97% accurate when pulling data.
But I asked why we didn't do this before. Why did we still have candidates fill out a paper app(yes we still did those) and online app and upload resume. All 3 were required.
I was told by my director we have always done things this way and that's how all companies do this. I looked at her and said I have not filled a paper app since 2007 or worked for a company who even used them. Even when I stared with kmart in 2011 they didn't have paper apps.
She has been in the same position since 89. We are a multi-billion dollar organization. I'm starting to see why we have not grown faster and HR has turnover galore for us.
