So I went for a job and before I went my recruiter told them exactly what I wanted to be paid. So before I went to the interview they knew my expectation.
90 minute interview and at the end they asked what do you earn?
Now that question is so pathetic. If you are asking that, you need to realise it’s the most ugly transparent shit. You’re asking what can we pay without paying more than we have to. It sucks.
Anyway next they ask what I wanna earn. I respond with $ that I feel would be worth moving for. They say okay we will see if we can make that work. We will let you know if the numbers work.
My recruiter asks me to clarify what I want to earn and I reiterate that figure to him and he then tells them that figure again.
They ask for another in person interview (last was on teams) and it goes well for another 60 mins before they tell me they want to pay me -20k less than what I wanted. I was honestly flawed and didn’t know what to say.
I thought we had done the negotiating for the job and they were taking me on. Now I’m getting stuck with the news that they aren’t coming to the party.
Originally they said they will look for the right candidate for as long as it takes but as soon as they give me the offer they say I have 24 hours to get back to them and that they want the job filled this coming week.
I let them know the same day I want extra $$ commission to make up the -20k because of a,b,c,d reasons and they say they will let me know soon.
Fast forward over a week and they still haven’t let me know.
I fucking hate the power dynamic already and I don’t even have the job.
I offered a fair deal for my skill set. I negotiated and told them clearly what I wanted. I responded in time and I get nothing but disrespect in return.
Fuck I need the fucking job but I don’t even want it at this stage.
