So I work in a zoo that will remain nameless. In the last 3 days, as my coworkers and I have been leaving, we’ve noticed that there would be a smashed car window and a pile of glass in one of the parking lots. Today, it was one of my coworkers’ car. The person doing it seems to be changing which lot each day and only breaking into one car at a time.
Here’s the problem: security says there’s nothing they can do after the fact (duh) and currently don’t have any plans to take preventative measures in the future. Our boss just says “park on the street” like it’s our fucking fault, or like that’s going to make it any less likely. My feeling is that they’re saying “park on the street” so that if our cars ARE broken into, they don’t have to take any responsibility.
How can we pressure management to take real action? I’m honestly not sure where else to turn.
