I work at a senior home and last week I called out sick and because last time I called out sick for one day they were on me about getting a doctors note, my boss sent an email to the executive director asking if its grounds to reprimand me and tried to make me sign a calendar she made to track my sick days (2 days in 3 months). I went to urgent care and got a doctors note saying I can't go in for 5 days. Turns out I had covid so I couldn't go in anyway as we're required to stay home 5 days after a positive test. So now they're calling me about getting a doctors note saying that I'm able to come back. I called the urgent care and they don't do those types of notes and I'd have to go to a doctor and ask for a note and hope they don't charge me. Does anyone know if I decide not to turn in a doctors note saying I can return to work can they fire me so I can apply for unemployment? And if not, how to get fired so that I still qualify for unemployment.
