I’m on disability in the US and haven’t worked a job in years as a result. Cost of living etc etc now I’m back in the work force. I found somewhere I liked that didn’t have an issue with my disability and was naturally stoked that they could only pay me $1200 a month so I can maintain my SSDI payments. I told them I’m available to work every day but Tuesdays, because both of my main doctors only see me on Tuesdays (and I have d&d at night).
So total we calculated I can work 23 hours a week at minimum wage. Great! Now tell me why tf they keep trying to push Tuesdays on me- you’ve got 6 other days to choose from and I legally cannot work more than like 4 hours if they work me all 6 of those days. Why do you need my one day off??!
Let alone the fact that I have to pay for parking because it’s downtown and I got this job to keep my bank account in the green… I can’t even afford the parking when I start next week, and y’all are asking me to work on my off days. I worry I’m gonna end up quitting before I even get established and it’s gonna mess up my chances of finding another job, as well as my SSDI.
Is this just normal for working now? I don’t remember desperate employers being so pushy when I worked last… yall say youre understaffed so why push away a potential employee with almost god tier availability for a single extra day a week??
