American infants are starving while other countries aren’t seeing the same situation. How is this work related?
If I was a mother who had to breastfeed exclusively it would be a massive hit to my mental and physical health, as well as my “workplace wellbeing”. Sneaking away to an unsanitary bathroom or broom closet to pump would be inconvenient and looked down upon, and I can’t imagine I would be able to consume or rest enough to keep up the immense demand that an exclusively breastfeeding mom needs to maintain a constant and reliable supply to feed her baby – and I work a desk job. I would not be able to do it as a woman who works in a stressful, fast paced, overworked environment like the service industry. I would have to quit my job to keep my body well enough to feed my baby.
My family is sincerely considering not having children because of the recent attack on women’s rights and the lack of formula for babies. Less children means less workers. Less workers means an even larger disparity of young vs old, which is an even larger strain on the workforce. I sincerely believe the government has started this attack on women because it sees this, and is forcing women to produce children to keep the population at least stable to support production.
So, I guess the formula issue really is an antiwork topic. What other recent topics on the news that aren’t stereotypical “antiwork” actually apply here? I am very curious to see what you guys think, and to learn about how these issues are affecting American workforces in ways I didn’t previously understand.
