Had been working for a managed IT services provider for about a month and a half. Wasn't perfect, but the people were good, the work was moderately interesting. In any case, I normally work Sun-Thurs 10-7. Go in Sunday, all normal. Wife tells me she's feeling a little ick. No big deal. Next morning, she's full on floored. This is on of those women who are “I ain't got time to be sick” and work through broken bones. SHE'S unable to get out of bed.
I call my supervisor (oh, btw, I have 6 bosses. Queue Office Space quotes) and tell them “I need to work from home today, wife is really sick and I need to be nearby to help her.” Now, mind you, this is a managed IT services provider. The MAJORITY of the workforce could work from home 24/7 without any break in service. My request?
“we'll need you to come into the office today to work.”
So I did go into the office; to collect my things and leave my badge.
Bonus: Turns out she has covid.
Extra bonus: Turns out the next day _I_ test positive for covid.
