I'm an independent contractor now,for a company I was employed at for 9years, to help them out during a transition period.
Under contract, I am to help with invoicing, where needed, and create an instructional document for training their future employees.
These contracted tasks have all been halted, as I've now been assigned tasks of corrections, problem resolutions, and going through hundreds and hundreds of transactions created by their trainee , before I can continue my contracted work. Reviewing these transactions is to check for errors, and teach how to resolve issues. None of this is in my contract of work to be done.
I've been asked to come in person for an onsite training session. It was originally my idea, with the amount of errors I was finding, yet I assumed talk of a new rate would be in order. Since they have said nothing, I need to.
Anyone have experience with rate changes for tasks not contracted? To me, these new tasks sound more like a consultant, than an independent contractor. Any advice/knowledge of this situation would be greatly appreciated!
