WORKPLACE OFFERED DAYCARE DURING COVID NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY IT BACK

DURING COVID MY WORKPLACE OFFERED DAYCARE ASSISTANCE FOR MY LITTLE ONE. WHICH WAS 100$ A DAY AND 500$ PER WEEK. DURING THAT TIME I APPLIED BC I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES. DURING THAT TIME IM ON LEAVE AND STILL TAKING MY CHILD TO DAYCARE. SO I APPLIED FOR THE LEAVE AND WAS APPROVED. NOW A YEAR LATER THEY DO AN AUDIT AND NOW THEY SAY I SHOULDN'T NEVER HAVE RECEIVED THE FUNDS DUE TO ME BEING ON LEAVE DURING THAT TIME. I TURNED IN MY RECEIPTS FROM ME PAYING THE DAYCARE. I feel like there shouldn’t be any disciplinary actions (REPAY BACK) due to it having to go through approval. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
