So, thanks to this sub I realized it was time to move on from where I was. I found a fantastic new job (Full remote, 30% pay increase and MUCH better working conditions) quickly. Now, what was my mistake? Well, I was just beginning a new project when I gave notice, I knew the company was shorthanded so I figured I would bust out as much as I could on this project to give them a good start on the project along with a good blueprint on how to move forward. The company early on had done a lot for me, and one of the owners was a friend of mine so I really wanted to leave on good terms and try to set up the next developer for success. So, I did. Knocked out a ton of work in the final 2 weeks, drew up a nice handover document that listed everything that needed to be done and on my last day handed over a functional site that any developer worth their salt should be able to come in and hit the ground running.
What was my reward for all this you might ask? First, found out I was thrown under the bus by the owner complaining that I did not do enough CSS work on the app and she could not show it to the client (My last day was Friday, she did this on Monday). Needless to say, this is totally BS as what I gave them was more then good enough to show a client (Mind you I still have friends there – hence how I found this out) and I had told them multiple times that I was going for functionality first, pretty second – and they agreed. My second and best reward is that yesterday I was expecting to receive my final paycheck. Guess what I didn't get. And the owner is lying her ass off telling me stories of why I don't have it yet. (Now to be fair – NO ONE that I am aware of was paid – – IE she missed payroll completely – but just tell me the truth – don't tell me stories). I am giving her till Friday to make it right, but I already have my wage claim form filled out and ready to go when I don't see it.
So boys and girls – remember – NO good deed ever goes unpunished!
EDT dead to deed.
