Pizza Bandaids for Deep Dish Cuts

After many years working for a school that has done nothing but cut employees and increase administrative pay, with their worst year filled with the largest amount of layoffs (over 100 employees!) we've seen yet, the worst working conditions and delegations of responsibilities to boot, they rewarded us for our debilitatingly hardwork by getting us some pizza! The oldest corporate cure-all adopted by your local school district. Was it good? Hell yeah its pizza! Was it uplifting? Your damn straight, it's pizza! Did it do a good job lifting morale that day? Of course, who doesn't chat it up over a slice pizza?! Did it help any of the special ed students who didn't get the attention they needed? Nope, but they'll be alright! Did it help the students who were failing their subjects by reducing class sizes? Nope, but thats what summer school is for! Did it at all…

Did it at all give us better working conditions/responsibilities to allow us to focus on our lessons? Nope, but we teach the same courses each year and nothing really changes anyways! Did it save any of the classes being cut because of our staff reduction? Nope, but who needs a diverse course offering when we can guarantee overcrowded mandatory core classes?! Did it help our custodial or supplementary monitor staff by offering a more enticing job to ease the burden of their dwidnoing work force? Nope, but they dont need more staff if they've already been keeping up with cleaning, repairing lockers, fixing heating/ac units, lunch and hallway monitoring, breaking up fights and smoke sessions in the bathrooms, and more! Does is leave a lasting impression on the community that says “we have your best interests at heart.” Nope, but they don't have a choice in schools and can't send their students elsewhere anyways!

But hey, I got some pizza!
