Boyfriend works as a bartender at a big casino. His manager wants him to be promoted directly to manager (BYPASSING the Supervisor role) so they scheduled an interview with the GM. The offer they gave him was the same amount of money, MORE hours, the possibility of a bonus at the end of the year, and shitty shifts.
He pointed out that this offer was not going to work, it’s a lateral move at best. The GM said “I understand, but sometimes in life you need to take a step backwards to really move forward.”
In WHAT WORLD would you say that to your top candidate for a managerial position?? That’s like saying “we know our offer sucks, but we want to take advantage of you anyway.” What the actual fuck???? I think I would’ve walked out. Jesus fucking Christ. This is why management is terrible there – they hire outside the organization because it costs “too much” to promote people working on the floor.
Just another example of big corporations knowingly trying to take advantage of you.
