Last month i stardet at this new job as a waiter, i was exited: the hours were good, it is literally a 10 minute walk from home and the money isn't bad. Now i realise that it was too good to be true.
And last week, the HR manager of the franchise came to us and spend an full hour telling how each one of the waiters need to sell at least 10K to meet a quota, and if needed, we could work the full 12 hours to meet that. OMG THE AUDACITY. These extra hours are not paid, we only get more tip share and no extra breaks, i work at the lunch shift, wich is impossible to reach the sales they want if i don't work some days the full 12 hours.
I was already pretty pissed that they were doing this to us, i mean, how the hell am i suppose to have a life? Do they really think this is the best way to up their sales? Making us work for free hoping that we can get what they want even if it is an absurd request.
To make things even better, today i woke up feeling like shit, but even sick i went hoping i could get though the day. I spend six hours pulling strenth from god knows were, trying my best to be fast and not fainting basically serving an entire restaurant with two more people. Then the manager comes to me and says:
“Come here, i wanna talk to you”
“Yes?”
“What is the difference between Chris (one of the other waiter working with me in the shift) and yours?”
“Well, i guess none”
“Exactly. You're slacking, i need you to work faster”
“The tables maybe are the same, but certanly as you can see, he is not sick as i am, so of course he is gonna be faster today”
He had no answer to me, but made sure to look at me the entire day with that judging look. He is also the guy who has pushing for everyone to do double shifts. FUCK YOU. I got fucking covid and this is how im treated for going to work even if i am sick?
I will start looking for a new job tomorrow, i will not waste my life to make other people rich.
