Locked into my own self slavery routine, advice

So here’s the thing, I’m involved in activist like work – my boss doesn’t tell me how to do my job, no one pays attention to my hours – but I find myself working myself to death anyways. I care about the community I serve, but I don’t get paid enough to work 12 hour days and so little personal time and sleep. I feel like I’m trained by the system to work myself to death because I honestly want to see my community improve, but I keep getting burned out. I know most people would say you can’t help others if you can’t help yourself, but how can I help myself? I’m afraid to leave this job, because I honestly am afraid no one else could do it.
