Government Job

First time posting and using an anonymous account for reasons that will become more apparent after reading my post. I am currently employed at a government job, although I don't know for how much longer, and have had quite an interesting month or so. ​ I should start with a bit of a backstory in order to get y'all caught up with what has happened and the terrible mishandling of the entire situation. First of all, there is a couple, husband-wife, that has basically harassed me due to the fact that I'm telling/instructing them on how to properly perform the job at hand. They have gone to the office and filed multiple complaints, each time they are basically identical complaints, basically stating that I'm harassing them by telling them how to do their job. First time posting and using an anonymous account for reasons that will become more apparent after reading my post. I am currently employed at a government job, although I don't know for how much longer, and have had quite an interesting month or so.

I should start with a bit of a backstory in order to get y'all caught up with what has happened and the terrible mishandling of the entire situation. First of all, there is a couple, husband-wife, that has basically harassed me due to the fact that I'm telling/instructing them on how to properly perform the job at hand. They have gone to the office and filed multiple complaints, each time they are basically identical complaints, basically stating that I'm harassing them by telling them how to do their job. On two separate instances, I have gone to the office to discuss the allegations that were levied against me. And each time the two supervisors have stated that I have done nothing wrong they just need to follow up on the issues. So following the second meeting in the office, I filed my own statement stating that they are harassing me by continuously targeting me for reasons unknown to me.

Fast forward a week or two, and several more of my colleagues did the same thing due to the fact that this couple was targeting them as well, 6 to be exact including myself. Following this, the husband was taken to the office to discuss the issues that were brought up in the multiple statements about him and his wife. After the meeting, the husband returns to work crying, not just crying but full-on balling in front of the entire staff. Along with this odd outburst, he begins to shout out “my babies, my babies”, which again was quite odd and very much so unexpected. Well as it turns out, which we found out several weeks later, the man was having visions/hallucinating that he saw dead babies, and to make this even more interesting they were his dead babies. Following this incident, the husband and wife duo decided they needed to get a point across that this man wasn't mentally stable. They decided to tell a coworker of ours that in fact, he had a serious case of double personality disorder for which he refuses to take the proper medication.

Fast forward yet again, the husband again tells the same coworker that he's getting real tired of people telling him and his wife how to do their jobs. And in fact, said that the next person to tell them how to do their jobs would be hurt, which the coworker turned in as that is a direct threat to another coworker. To top it off, a couple of days later the couple were discussing the fact that they had firearms in their vehicles as well as at home. To preface, this was almost immediately following the tragedy that occurred in Uvalde. This was brought to the attention of our supervisor, to which she was forced to suspend indefinitely until further investigations were made. Well barely a week later the supervisor was called and forced to bring back the husband by her supervisor and so on and so forth, much to the dismay of everyone. Following his return, I felt, as well as another coworker, that it was in our best interest if we were excused as we didn't feel comfortable working with him. Although before we were allowed to leave the supervisor had to call her supervisor who was very reluctant to allow us to leave as there wouldn't be enough staff on hand to meet the quota for the day. Alas, we were allowed to leave by the supervisor of the local operation. To which I haven't returned to work since Tuesday of this week.

Following this incident, I emailed the district supervisor to inform her of the actions and to get some sort of disciplinary action for the mishandling of the entire situation. To which her response was that I need to file a workplace violence complaint, which was already filed. The next day I was told that I was required to return to work or face an AWOL. As well as having a sit down/discussion with the husband and wife about what has happened, in order to make amends. I have since declined any and all contact with the couple as well as not returning to work, using my annual leave as well as sick days. I was also told that there was nothing that could be done as there was not sufficient evidence to remove him.

Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, as I need some sort of income but I refuse to go back to work and work with these neanderthals. What would be the best course of action that would keep me this job, as I somewhat like/enjoy it, and rid me of them once and for all.
