Great boss – a rarity

After several surgeries, and at 67, I felt it was time to retire from my auto assembly job. At some point I wouldn't be able to do the job and would be pushed out, so it was time. Unfortunately my retirement, because of my hire date, meant no pension [except my 401K]and no healthcare benefits [which we paid ZERO for]. I have Medicare, but had to find coverage for younger husband. I started a biz, but don't have a steady income yet. So, naturally, shit happens. Husband had a heart attack last week. Just the event and care are stressful enough. But we'll have 8K deductible to take care of, and husband has no benefits, no paid medical leave. Fortunately, he can return to light duty next week. And, thank goodness, his boss is going to pay him for the week he was out. I read the posts here daily.…

And, thank goodness, his boss is going to pay him for the week he was out. I read the posts here daily. I'm really appalled at how people are treated by horrible and nasty managers and bosses. I had a good union job that kept management staff in line, meaning people had to be treated fairly. [Not all are assholes tho]. I just wanted to say that there really are decent and good people out there. I know it's hard to find them, but keep trying. There are employers who do care about their employees. Don't lose hope.
