I don’t have a ton of variety when it comes to work experience so I apologize if I’m being ignorant.
My boyfriend just got a job at Pizza Hut about a week ago. We live in Canada by the way.
When he went in for the interview his manager told him that he would receive a call that night or the next day if he got the job.
The next day he got the call and he had to go in to sign some paperwork within the week, there was no specific date his manager just told him to drop in whenever.
These two things are slightly weird to me because the last 3 times I’ve had a job they told me I’d receive a call the next week if I got the job or not. When I did get the job they gave me a specific time I would have to go there to sign papers and get familiar with the work environment/watch videos.
About 3 days after he signed the papers he had his first shift and yesterday was his second shift. Earlier I asked him when the next day he would be working is and he told me that he didn’t know. He said his manager would call him when he needs my boyfriend to come in. From what it seems is that his manager will call him a few hours before he needs my boyfriend to come into work, maybe 3 hours before.
My boyfriend didn’t sign up to work casually, he got the job with the intention of working part time then eventually full time, his boss knew that.
Im just wondering if anyone knows what might be going on? Is this legal?
