Employee forcing us to work in dangerous heat

It’s 99° where I live today, and will be for the coming months I’m sure. At work today we had very very weak Air Conditioning and several of us were passing out but we were told that we’d get suspended or terminated if we went home / refused to work today. Is there some kind of law saying that workers are required to have ample temperature conditions at work? Illinois Edit: Meant employer
