Since the end of April me and my husband (who work for the same very small company) have been begging for hours each week for almost 8 weeks, with little to no response. We are taking home less than $500 per week together; we need to make $800 per week together to sustain ourselves because rent is $1900 here (was $1300, but went up in January), as well as gas being almost $6 a gallon. To fill the gaps, my husband got a second “job” (a gig job) where he did repairs; when my boss found out, they seemed upset and claimed they needed to now give more hours to other employees. Since then, we've had even less hours than normal. My husband and I are paycheck to paycheck and may not be able to pay the full amount of rent this month. We feel stuck because most jobs don't pay well here. We don't understand why we've suddenly been put on the “shit list” when we've been stellar employees and why us needing second jobs because we aren't making enough with our first is causing us to be penalized. It's a no-win situation.
