There was this historic church that used to be the location of a restaurant in my city called “Vikars Vice.” It's a church, renovated into a restaraunt. They closed down in the pandemic in 2020 due to a lack of income, and a new place opened up in replacement called “hogstown smoke.” It was during the winter of 2022 that i was applying for jobs left and right because my seasonal work at Timhortons field ended. (NOTE: It wasn't the best job because of the conditions there, but i've learned my lesson and from that experience.) One of the places i emailed was this place, and they said they needed job offers immediately. However, i moved onto more places and my parents persuaded me from applying for that place. Today, i learned that they were right. A news article published in my local subreddit said that this local restaurant owed over 35 K in wages, in addition to a lack of response for the hiring process, and not giving tips on the first day and so forth! Im so glad i have a unionized job and i'm improving more and more every day. All i'm saying is, Servers – know your rights.
