Can I just leave my letter of resignation on my boss admin’s desk?

So, I am only 4 months in my job and will be resigning soon. 3 people in my position left within 3 months so yay to me for staying longer πŸ™‚ My boss is actually easy to work with, but he lets my senior coworker runs the department and she's the worst person I have worked with. I will be leaving for my mental health. My boss will never change his managing structure. My boss is in a different building because he's the CEO. I barely get to see him unless I schedule it. Can I just leave my letter of resignation on his assistant's desk if I walk in and he's not there? Is that rude? I have never addressed my issues with my coworker to him, but it's pointless because he favors her and didn't give a sh!t when 3 other people left. They all silently left due…

I will report it to HR because I feel bad for the future people they hire. Tbh, they pay higher than other places nearby so I'm sure people will unknowingly apply for the position.
