Why Is It So Hard To Get A Damn Job?

When my grandparents came to this country in 1959, my grandfather got a job a couple of days after landing in NYC. He got a job at working construction as an engineer. The man didn't speak English, had the education of a 3rd grader, but was able to get a good job. A couple of generations later, I graduated with a BSBA in Human Resources Management, my first job was working at my dad's small restaurant, which I later inherited and owned. I also have a plethora of Office Admin position, but I still can't get a job interview. Why is it so hard just to get a damn job in this country? Every job applications says I'm not qualified. Well, if a former business owner is unfit for a measly HR Generalist positions, then I don't know what is anymore. I have no faith in job searching anymore.
