Ok, I am having a less than happy time at work lately. I am not fond of a few of the people I support (I am an admin assistant) and was just asked this:
“Would you please check with me before you leave at the end of the day? Because I sometimes lose track of time and may have more tasks for you to finish before you leave.”
I am sorry but what? I leave at the same time every day. Why can’t you give me work at a time that allows me to get it done in my regular work hours? If I go and check with them 5 minutes before I go I will be late every night.
I support 6 people minimum and also help out and cover for my co-workers. This one person has mentioned repeatedly that they “forget” that I support 5 other people. They have been with the company for 6 months while I have been there a tad over 3 years.
I do get paid overtime, but it needs to be approved beforehand by my manager (not this person) and must be billed to a client (not just regular office type work but absolutely necessary immediate work.)
Am I wrong to think this is unreasonable?
Editing to add: This person also had me working at home the other night for an hour and a half after my regular bedtime and said that “sometimes they are a night owl.” I am also wfh 3 days a week and this really bothers them, though it was an arrangement established before they joined.
