the time came to put in my 2 weeks at my last job because i was moving onto something better and was sick of where i was at. around that time the whole retail store was about to receive the quarterly profit sharing check and we were completely short staffed. the store manager and assistant told me i needed to work 3 more days AFTER my 2 week notice was up to receive the profit bonus which they stated “will be our biggest check and you will be missing out on roughly $800-1k” if i didn’t work the shifts. at the time i needed the extra money and had a gap week before my next employment so i agreed. my two week notice ended on a monday and i agreed to work the next friday, saturday, and sunday “for my profit bonus.” i go into work that friday and was scheduled to work customer service (cashiering, returns, orders etc.)… i couldn’t log in, our system said the username didn’t exist… i talked with the assistant manager and she was almost ignoring me, like if i didn’t know something she knew and kept trying to blow me off, she then told me to give her a second. i did and helped another customer in the mean time (not on the computer obviously because i couldn’t log in ) one of co workers comes up to me roughly 15 minutes after my encounter with the ass. man, by now i’ve only been here 30 mins. she says to me “assistant manager just came up to me freaking out and said she doesn’t know what to do because corporate took you out of the system too soon and that she bribed you with the profit bonus so you would work these 3 extra days. even tho you would’ve gotten the profit bonus no matter what.” i instantly took off my uniform and walked out. oh ya also, i couldn’t even clock in so that was another red flag. i honestly didn’t know what to think, am i over thinking it? some feedback from others would be greatly appreciated! never will i again do a favor for a company that wouldn’t treat me the same. in the end i got my $234 profit bonus 🤦️🤦️
