“Hey I’ve seen this one before!”

The situation right now reminds me of the French Revolution. People are getting poorer and poorer while the rich are partying hard pretending nothing is wrong. The peasants in France had little voice in the Estates General. Represented 98% of the pop, got one vote, always outvoted by the other two classes. Similarly, we have a voice in government with voting and stuff but money speaks louder. The rich and rulers always work together against us. France had an inept king, the US has had two inept presidents in a row. French peasants could barely afford bread. We can barely afford rent. A series of droughts and harsh winters pushed the peasants of France over the edge. Perhaps a recession will be the modern equivalent.
