What’s up with the small amounts of sick days??

I live in Sweden. I have a multitude of bodily problems which sometimes forces me to take several weeks of sick leave in a row. All paid, no question. When you state that you have ten days of sick leave, do you mean that you only get paid when sick for ten days a year? That seems dystopic…
