I am in a niche field that requires a lot of education, many hours out in the field and the passing of a certification exam. It’s pretty high-paying and highly, highly competitive but also fairly new. There are not a lot of us in this industry and experience is highly regarded. I have been in this field for about 13 years and have some of the most experience in my city. I took one of the lowest salaries in my region to work for a new company being told that they would give me fewer clients, fewer hours and be more flexible because I have an infant. I have worked very hard for this company for 9 months, had a huge role in quadrupling the clientele, have brought other colleagues on to the team and recently found out that I bill more than anyone else in my position in the whole company. I have been pretty disappointed in that I have a huge amount of clientele and work until closing a vast majority of the time while my boss takes off at 3:30-4:00 most days. I just found out that they offered a former colleague of mine who has only 3 years experience a position with my company for $20 more than me… I am so pissed and don’t know what to do.
