No more mileage reimbursement for dropping off deposits at the bank?

My wife works part time at one of the 3 major pizza chains. In our area gas is $5.69 and still rising. Historically we used to get $5 for dropping off deposits at the bank, and that’s when the bank was in the same parking lot. That bank is now closed and now the nearest bank is 3 miles down the road, and is outside of their delivery area. Today she was asked to go to the bank, and she refused because last week she was only given $2 to drive 6 miles round trip and out of area. After discussing with her assistant manager today, apparently the company has decided to no longer reimburse anyone for driving to the bank. Gas is up over 100%, the bank is further away and you can’t just walk to it any more, and they have to rely on drivers to take the…

Am I crazy for thinking this is backwards as hell?
