I know that title looks really bad, but I promise it’s justified.
For context, I work in a warehouse that handles appliances. The pay is higher than most places in my area, the work is crazy easy, all the work is done with a fork lift, there’s productivity bonuses, and the benefits are pretty good. We work 4 10s, which was a big draw for me. Our productivity goals are extremely relaxed at 15 units per hour and 80% efficiency in pick times, which can usually be accomplished in abt 30 minutes. I can pretty reliably hit 30 units per hour and 120% efficiency.
However, about 60% of my shift has decided that they would rather sit around and talk, hide in the bathroom, and generally not do anything. Typically, I wouldn’t care, but because over half the shift is dropping the ball, we’ve fallen into a vicious cycle of mandatory overtime that the people responsible do not show up for.
I hate to snitch on people, but their inactivity is hurting me. What do y’all think I should do?
