Australian here.
My previous job was working for a mum dad business (mobile handyman). They had me driving over a 300km radius almost every day, had me working at least 1 hour overtime daily with no lunch break. After about a year I cracked and took an offer from a mid sized corporation that offered me slightly more money but promised to treat me like a human being.
After 2 weeks of working I caught covid, they still paid me the whole week although I had no sick leave banked up. They always tell me I’m doing a great job, encourage me to take my lunch break. They said to me at the job interview “at the end of the day mate you still get paid regardless so take your time to do jobs because we are all about quality over quantity”.
Just felt like sharing a positive story. I was quite surprised to be treated well by a corporation vs. a small business.
