Sign in bonuses are major red flags and Florida labor laws are a joke

So I'm currently in the process of quitting my current job because of terrible scheduling and awful management. They have everyone basically working 7 days a week on every shift every week. When I originally started, I was told that due to the fact that the company is so understaffed they would have us alternating weekends off. Well now its been two months later and this has been taken away. Management passed a memo basically saying that they would have us working this burnout BS schedule and then discuss with us what days we could have off. There are people in there who are dealing with custody battles and have not time to even spend time with their family or their children. Me personally I barely get to see my wife. There are people in there who are dealing with custody battles and have not time to even spend time with their family or their children. Me personally I barely get to see my wife. I asked for about a month prior to this problem to have the weekend at the end of this month off because I needed to celebrate my 5 year anniversary with my wife and they told me that they will work it out with me, but never got back to me with an answer. I have been hounding the leads and supervisors about this for weeks now and nobody has given me a straight answer so I just decided to end it. The fact that Florida is an “at will” state and can fire you without giving you any reason whatsoever (i.e. this company for not working their mandatory crappy overtime) is absolutely disgusting. I should've known better when I saw that they had a $1000 sign in bonus after the 90 days.

Another thing is you accrue PTO from the day you start, but you're not allowed to use it until you finish your probation period.

I need to leave this state ASAP.

TL;DR

If a company offers a sign in bonus, make sure to look at their turnover rate. Don't end up trapped in a garbage schedule and basically be taken away from your loved ones.
