What I made per hour back in the day….

Just venting here. I was talking to my MIL about wages. She claimed her first job paid her $1.68 an hour in 1968. She claims “I don’t know how people can complain when I was making that little.” I then ask how much did a Hershey’s bar cost and she said I think like 20 cents. I did a inflation calculation and I’m astounded! A $1.68 an hour then is now $14.11 an hour today. $7.25 adjusted for dollars in 1968 is .86 cents an hour. I have this info for when we discuss this next but I cannot believe people are this naïve. We literally have to work with half as much and to figure out how to buy stuff that cost 5x and more from what it was back in the day.
