minimum wage and its effect on the economy

I was thinking about a topic I find interesting. If minimum wage barely changes and the cost of things increase, could the economy be damaged as more people struggle to pay loans, bills, and necessities? I read that we're already in a recession but could it get worse as things continue to get harder for the average American? What are your thoughts on this? I'm very curious to know
