Brief background: I work in an academic lab so there is always work and the lab is always open. I don't want to celebrate the 4th. I've really never celebrated it, but I take the day off. This year, I am more invested in not celebrating. Should I go to work like it was any other day? Or should I take the paid vacation, which would make me feel complicit in the celebration?
