so, never thought I'd post here but I'm going to give you some back round here.
I've been working at this retail job for about a year now and I've loved every minute of it!
our store is slow and we are actually allowed to bring laptops, play on our phones etc as long as work is done and that's mighty fair.
yesterday I come to my 8 hour shift seeing there is a note where our chair usually is saying chair stays in the back employees stay in front stocking and cleaning.
I've got a bad back and the owner knows that so I really appreciate the fact that we even have a option for a chair.
So.. his son comes in who has been a part time employee turns out he's the one who put the sign there, and he came up to me and says man didn't you see the sign? and I said yes but I have a really bad back because of a car wreck a few years ago I even texted your dad ( the owner)
he says it doesn't matter, and I say I'm willing to argue with on this one because I need it for my back, this guy proceeds to get so heated he picked up the chair right over his head and whips it across the room, I've never seen this guy even upset, I say it's not fair because you always sit in the back office while working and he says to me im trying to manage this place you don't know what I have to deal with, I reply since when are you the manager? like genuinely no one was told he was running the place and I'm guessing he got butt hurt about it and told me to pack my stuff and go home early… I was dumb founded and laughed I'm like okay..
I proceeded to called the owner this lead to him apologizing for his son's behavior and telling me I'll give you 4 weeks severance pay, I'm like wait what you're letting me go? he's like well there is no going back and I'm like yes there is all he has to do is say I'm sorry we're adults and he said no we can't go back now.
I'm the only employee who hasn't gotten in trouble, written up or talked to by the owner and I was let go? I was so hurt.
I love my job, I loved the co workers and the people , the customers .
all because someone lost their temper I got let go. been working full time , never missed a day..
sorry for the long read I had to vent.
