I came down with a nasty case of stomach problems, likely a bug or side effect from a new medication, Friday afternoon. This weekend was horrible. Diarrhea, vomitting, not being able to eat anything has been so hard. I went to two urgent care, got meds. Told the boss yesterday I won't work today (Monday) since I'm too tired and brain foggy because I haven't had a meal since Friday. Yesterday, the boss said “don't worry about checking your email/phone, rest up! I care about you”
Of course, today the boss is reaching out bc my co-workers can't fill in for my knowledge base. I'm now responding to texts and getting things sorted for them. At the same time, my heart is racing waiting to hear back from my blood work and I've been on hold for 30min with an empty stomach.
AND I'm not even yet thinking of all the urgent care bills. My job doesn't pay enough for how little the team can function without me.
