a job that wasn’t a job has ruined my life. let me explain.

So in February I applied for a job helping those leaving the foster care system in the UK transition in to adult life. My role was to help them find employment (writing cvs and setting them up with college courses). I got the job because I've been a career civil servant and I had more than enough experience. It turns out it was all a scam. My senior manager started getting funny with me when I asked why my pay day had moved, I'm talking calling me 5 times a day to make sure I was working and to confirm what I was working on. After a few weeks of this I resigned. I was a member of the management team who was being labeled as difficult because I was raising my concerns. Pay day comes around and nothing.

Another manager calls me via teams and there are 5 of us on the call, nobody has been paid. The staff who were ignoring me are now saying “see Gaijinhito, I told you something wasn't right…” ugh. The company never existed and the work he was having us do was for nothing?

Now I'm down about £1000 so bills haven't been paid; car, credit card and utilities. Can't afford to feed myself past the end of this week so I'm clearing out my cupboards to mash together meals.

We've told the Leicestershire Police but they're not doing much. ACAS haven't been much help either.

And the cherry on the top? I've been waiting to start a new job for three weeks and I'm waiting on references to come back. It's not like I don't want to work. I'm even taking a £9000 p/a pay cut to keep myself running. I'm tired. I'm depressed and I feel like it's starting to seep in to other parts of my life.

The company was called leaving care solutions / Leaving care support.
