I work at a library. I’m a 25 year old white male. I was at the front desk this morning checking in books when a disheveled man that appeared to be my age and homeless came up to me with an aggressive tone.
“SO YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR COFFEE HERE?!”
Coffee here at the library is $1.
“Yeah, unfortunately it’s a dollar man but I can give you one for fr…”
“YEAH UNFORTUNATELY ITS A DOLLAR”
He then walked away from the front desk and left the library. I heard the door open a minute later and he walked back in.
He walked by the front desk and said:
“YOU PEOPLE ARE RIDICULOUS!!!!” He then pulled both of his hands out of his pockets and made gun shapes with them and went “PCHEW PCHEW PCHEW PHCEW” like pointing his gun hands at me and making gun sounds.
He then walked out of the library again and I went to my bosses office. I told her what happened and she called the police. When they arrived, he was in the parking lot, so they talked to him saying to not come back to the library today and to never make those gestures again. After they left, he entered the library again and walked by the front desk glaring at me.
I told my boss that he came back and was walking by the front desk looking at me like he was trying to intimidate me and she is just trying to downplay it saying “we don’t want it to escalate” blah blah blah. I’m literally afraid for my life right now. This guy could come back today at some point or tomorrow or the next day and literally kill me.
My boss told me to take an early lunch break but to be back on time to be at the desk. She won’t call the police again or put in a request to have him removed from the library. He keeps coming back in and looking at me menacingly.
What the fuck do I do? I told my boss I was either going to go home or take a break and she told me to go take my lunch break early. It seems almost illegal? Aren’t they supposed to protect their employees!? I’ve told them multiple times that he keeps coming back.
This guy is clearly homeless and has really bad mental health. I really don’t want to die at a fucking library
