I was just talking to my mom yesterday, she is a 70 year old woman who has literally 40 years of experience in sales and marketing from the ground up. She was the president of 3 different companies sales and marketing departments for 15 years total.
You quite literally CANNOT have more experience in sales and marketing then her, you could have different experience, and niche experience that would certainly make you a valuable addition to any team. But in terms of just numerical quantity, she has more.
So not really needing a job, but not enjoying the staleness of retirement quite like she hoped, she figured fuck it l will go see if l can get so e tame work for someone that needs it. She applied to a small start up that frankly could really use the help, their marketing is god awful. They are in the business space wanting to do consulting and management assistance for other companies.
She goes to the interview and they literally told her she didn't have the kind of experience they were looking for, for a middle tier position. Like what the actual fuck do you people want. This woman has literally made millions for companies. Her last fucking contract in the medical field was a 180 million dollar deal over 10 years for fucking consulting. This start up hasn't even seen anything close to a 100K deal.
I just don't know anymore, what the actual fuck. The only even semi logical explanation l can come up with is a bunch of barely 20 something's didn't want an “old lady” telling them what to do. Because l don't think they have the ability to process that she might have brought in way more fucking work then they could handle. And l can't find any other reason why they wouldn't hire her. She even said the base pay was fine. And it's fucking shit. 18/hr. In fucking Los Angeles.
Look l know there are hiring managers, recruiters, and management that hangout in this sub, l am sure you are all lovely wonderful people. I am painfully curious at this point, what in the world are your thoughts for this fun little event.
