to all those companies who cant seem to find people who want to work, here is a short list of 10 things to bring people in.

  1. Pay well, provide good low cost benefits, its not all about the money but we need money to live, I think you will find if you pay your employees well and take care of them they will give their all for your business.
    1. starting pay should be $20-$25
    2. Low cost heath care that has low deductible ($50 per pay check or less with a deductible of $300 or less)
  2. Treat your employees with kindness and respect, regardless of their age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation
    1. What your employees do out side of the job is not your business
    2. If you ask your employee to come and they say no, respect their decision or offer a bonus/more money, they are sacrificing time with their families and to rest to make you money
    3. If your employees need a sick day or want to take a vacation, give it to them, don't ask questions (assume positive intent) (this doesn't mean not addressing problematic attendance behaviors)
    4. Remove toxic management
  3. Allow your employees to try new things even if you dont agree with them, your employees are on the front lines day in and day out, they know how and why stuff gets done.
    1. For example if your employees want to try a 4 day work week (8 hrs, 4 days, at 5 days pay), try it for a 2 weeks to a month, see how productivity and the business is affected, share the data with your team)
  4. Short interviews with questions relevant for the job, keep interviews to 2 rounds at a maximum (respect your potential employees time)
    1. do not make your employees take a personality quiz
    2. Hire your employees directly, avoid hiring agencies if you can

Thats pretty much it, if you can do these 4 things, I think you will find very easy to find and retain talent that will work hard for you and be loyal.
