Quitting a job can get one disqualified for EI.
This is the trick that many Toronto employers use, including in the public sector. They yell, scream and provoke you until you quit or get fired for misconduct.
The way to be smart is to avoid the aggressor and let them lay you off. Don't quit.
If you have to sit down all day and do the minimum, just do it until they fire you. The worst that can happen, and what I've witnessed is that the employee gets physically attacked by the Supervisor. In that case, leave the building and call 9-1-1. Don't quit. Just don't show up back to work anymore.
I've worked in many environments in Toronto, and they use a trick to force employees to quit or get fired for misconduct.
